PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Police have identified a 26-year-old man who was shot and killed in north Portland on Wednesday afternoon.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy Thursday morning and determined Laray William Seamster died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Seamster was found near North Vancouver Avenue and Fargo Street suffering from gunshot wounds at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday. He was taken to the hospital, but died shortly after his arrival, according to police.

A nurse from the nearby Red Cross office was among those who rushed out to try and help Seamster, a Red Cross spokesperson confirmed.

Witnesses told police two younger black males were involved in the shooting and ran away from the area, possibly leaving in a silver vehicle.

No arrests have been made and detectives are asking for the public's help to solve the case. Investigators said Seamster was known to police as a gang associate, but it is not clear if that played a role in his killing.

Anyone with information about this shooting or anyone with information learned from social media accounts is asked to contact Detective Mark Slater at 503-823-9319, mark.slater@portlandoregon.gov; or Detective Erik Kammerer at 503-823-0762, erik.kammerer@portlandoregon.gov.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward up to $2,500 for information that leads to an arrest in this case.

Police said Seamster's death marked the 28th homicide in Portland this year. Another person was then shot and killed early Thursday morning at North Bruce Avenue and Hudson Street, bringing the total to 29.

A candlelight vigil for Seamster was scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday at North Vancouver Avenue and Fargo Street.
