Nike co-founder Phil Knight and his wife Penny will give at least $19.2 million for a new sports center at the University of Oregon.
The Register-Guard reports that UO athletic officials announced plans for the 29,000-square-foot Marcus Mariota Sports Performance Complex in September.
They called the project an "enhancement" of the Casanova Center building that will bring state-of-the-art equipment to improve athletes' health and performance.
The multi-million-dollar gift is the latest in a series of gifts from Knight to the university.
The university has agreed to lease a portion of the Casanova Center to PHIT LLC, a business controlled by Knight. He will hire construction and architectural firms and donate the space back to the university after the project is completed.
