Local students take part in 'Million Student March'

Posted: Updated:

Students at Portland State University joined thousands of other students across the country Thursday for the "Million Student March."

They rallied on more than 100 campuses, demanding tuition-free public college, a $15 an hour minimum wage for student workers on campuses and the cancellation of student debt.

Fox 12 spoke with one student organizer at Thursday's PSU rally.
"If college is the only way to be successful in this country, then that's a right," said Olivia Pace, who is with the PSU Student Union. "If that's the only way to be successful and obtain jobs and live the American Dream, if that's the only way for us to thrive in this country, then that should be a right."

Students also marched at Reed College, Oregon State University, University of Oregon and four Portland Community College campuses.
