OREGON CITY, OR (KPTV) -

Employees at the Mountain View Cemetery on 500 Hilda Street in Oregon City arrived at work to find broken windows, burnt flowers, and toppled grave stones.

Police believe that the suspect or suspects entered the cemetery sometime after 5 p.m. Thursday, likely by jumping the fence.

Officials say along with damaged flowers, windows, and flower vases, water spigots were kicked over, and 31 headstones were damaged.

The damage was in the pioneer section of the cemetery, which is the burial site of Oregon City pioneers dating back to 1847.

Some of the gravestones, including ones of historical significance, are irreparable.

According to police, the estimated cost of the damage damage is between $8,000- $10,000.

The cemetery is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to an arrest in the case.

Anyone with information is urged to call Oregon City Police.
