A norovirus outbreak has left more than 100 kids at a local elementary school sick.

The outbreak is happening at Lynchwood Elementary in Portland.

School officials said 127 kids and 2 staff members were out sick on Friday.

The virus began appearing last Friday, Nov. 6. The school district brought in a cleaning crew over last weekend to sanitize.

The school district plans on sending in another cleaning crew this weekend. They urges any child with symptoms to stay home.

Norovirus is a common, but very contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. Other symptoms may include nausea, abdominal cramps, low-grade fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and a general sense of tiredness.
