PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Deputies stopped a taxi for committing traffic infractions and then arrested a passenger who was carrying 2 kilograms of cocaine, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office.

Special Investigation Unit deputies conducted the traffic stop at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Southeast 126th and Stark Street.

During the stop, the deputies talked to the cab driver and a customer in the car. As a result of that interaction, deputies said they searched the passenger's bag.

That search revealed two bricks of cocaine, each weighing one kilogram, according to the sheriff's office.

Jorge Ramirez Garcia, 43, of Yakima, Washington, was arrested and booked in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of possession and distribution of a controlled substance, cocaine.

The cab driver was given a warning by deputies.
