GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

Two 12-year-old boys were hit by a car on Monday, according to the Gresham Police Department.

Police said the boys were hit around 4:36 p.m. at the intersection of W. Powell Blvd. and S.W. Eastman Pkwy.

According to police, the boys were running west on Powell, crossing Eastman when they were hit by a car driving south on Eastman. The car had a green light as it proceeded through the intersection and the boys ignored their red light.

The driver remained on scene and is not facing any citations.

The boys were taken by ambulances to area hospitals and are being treated for injuries. Their current conditions are not known but first responders said both boys were alert and talking to them, and neither had any visibly significant injuries.

Police said pedestrians and drivers need to be more alert and watch out for each other. Rainy skies darken significantly by 4:15 p.m. and visibility is diminished.
