PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Thousands of customers are still without power Wednesday morning after Tuesday's storm.

As of 6:30 a.m. just under 5,000 people were without service according to Portland General Electric.

High winds and approaching storms started affecting Portland residents by Tuesday afternoon.

PGE had over 7,200 customers without service by 4 p.m. About an hour later, the number approached 10,000 customers experiencing power outages.

Around 8:30 p.m. there was a total of more than 28,000 customers without power.

At 10:50 p.m., more than 19,000 people were without power, including more than 12,000 in Clackamas County.

Most of the outages are still being investigated, but some have already been attributed to high winds and falling trees.

The outages were affecting customers in Clackamas, Marion, Multnomah, Washington and Yamhill counties.

PGE customers can track the outages online and on mobile at PortlandGeneral.com.
