KELSO, WA (KPTV) -

A debris slide along SR-411 has closed the highway north of Kelso.

Tuesday's rainstorm caused a portion of an adjacent hillside to slide onto the highway, also known as the West Side Highway, bringing down several trees and debris.

The debris also damaged nearby power lines.

Geotechnical engineers from the Washington State Department of Transportation will investigate the potential for additional slides and determine if a slope repair is necessary before the highway reopens to traffic.

The transportation department said the highway would be closed indefinitely. Northbound traffic was detoured to Lexington Bridge Drive to Interstate 5. Southbound drivers will use PH 10 Road to Huntington Avenue to I-5.
