PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A TriMet bus driver known as Santa Bob is retiring after more than 30 years of bringing holiday cheer to bus riders in the metro area.

Santa Bob, also known as Bob Foster, is retiring this Friday. Fox 12 asked how Santa Bob got his start, and he said that a few years into his job, he began moonlighting as Santa for TriMet employees and families, who all noticed the resemblance to the jolly old elf. He says the thing he will miss the most about his job is the people.

"I would put my hat on and do 'Ho ho ho' and 'Merry Christmas,'" he said. "I went off a run and came on a few years later and the first thing a lady asks me is, 'Are you going to be Santa?'"

If you look forward to seeing Santa Bob every Christmas season on line 88, don't worry. Santa Mark is ready to take the reins. Mark Larson has driven TriMet buses for 25 years. He says riders have also noticed his close resemblance to Saint Nick.
