A guitar teacher is facing criminal charges after investigators said he sexually abused underage students.

Shaun Toman, 33, was arraigned on charges including first-degree sex abuse on Monday. He remained in jail Friday with bail at $250,000.

According to a Hillsboro Police Department spokesman, detectives have two confirmed victims, however Toman is only facing charges in connection to one of them at this time as the investigation continues.

Police said the abuse occurred between 2001 and 2010. Toman provided guitar lessons to the victims, got close to them and abused them, according to investigators.

A probable cause affidavit states when Toman was arrested Nov. 13, he admitted to sexually abusing a girl when she was between the ages of 11 and 17 years old at a home in Hillsboro.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Toman also admitted recording a sexual act with the victim.

The affidavit states, "Toman stated he needed counseling for his problem."

Toman is due back in court Monday.

Anyone with information about additional possible victims is asked to call Detective Joe Ganete at 503-681-6175.
