SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police Troopers responded to the report of a rollover crash on Highway 22 just west of Salem early Sunday morning.

Police say a Subaru was traveling eastbound on Highway 22 at an estimated 100 miles per hour, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle crashed into a light pole and rolled over multiple times before stopping in a field.

Investigators said the Subaru traveled over 900 feet after leaving the road.

Officials said the driver, James Allen Young, 28, of Independence was transported to a local hospital for serious injuries.

The passenger, Christopher Duane Liddell, 24, of Corvallis, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed and alcohol consumption are being considered contributing factors, according to police.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
