Happy Valley food cart pod causing parking problems for neighbors

Posted: Updated:

Happy Valley is booming with business now that a food cart lot has opened, but some of the neighbors aren't too please with the new establishment that is causing a lot of parking problems.

Even on a Monday night, this new food cart spot is still packed.

FOX 12 spoke with the owner of Bardo's Grill and he said business has been great, and this is the problem that neighbors, who live only 30 feet away, said is the problem.

Employees did say they have been instructed to park 4 blocks away from the facility so that leaves room for residents and guests looking to grab some food.

One neighbor said that's not enough for the small road and that guests are parking on both sides of the road within the neighborhood leaving no room for the people that live there.

"The nearby homeowners do not like the food plot just because the parking lot gets really cluttered so than there's no spot for them," said Aldo Bardoio, owner of Bardo's Grill.

"The neighbors of the food carts, which is us, are not enjoying it. There's, I'm sure, as many as a thousand cars on the weekend. Today is a Monday and it's very, very, very busy," said Cecelia Smith, who lives nearby.

Smith said a few of the neighbors went to three hearings to object to the food cart station for the small residential area but in the end it was approved.
