Police investigating body found in Vancouver business as a homicide

Posted: Updated:

Police are investigating a body found in a Vancouver business as a homicide.

Officers responded to Pacific Bullion Precious Metals, 701 Main St., at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said a man's body was discovered inside the business.  Investigators say they had to wait for several hours on a search warrant, before they could gain access to the building.

Investigators were not releasing any information about the victim Wednesday evening, pending notification of family members.

The cause and manner of death were also not being released by detectives until an autopsy was performed by the Clark County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police would not comment on if a weapon was found at the scene, and at this hour it is unclear when the man was killed. However, police said the case is being investigated by the Major Crimes Team as a homicide.

"On the day before Thanksgiving, we had planned on a party down here, but this put everyone a little off track," said Heather Brooks, who works nearby. "You know, other bars are slow because of it,  and now there's no way to get around downtown, or come here.  We're just all waiting to find out what happened, and everyone is texting each other. We're worried."

There is no suspect in custody and detectives said they are pursuing leads in the case.
