House flipping seminar postponed amid backlash

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A controversial seminar in Portland has been postponed.

The team from the reality show "Flip or Flop" was planning to hold a series of seminars teaching people how to make money on flipping houses.

However, as of Wednesday the event web page shows that events scheduled in Salem, Eugene, Portland, Longview and Vancouver have all been postponed.

There is no explanation on the site why, but the event comes in the middle of a Portland housing crunch, which led some to question the timing.

“Them coming in to teach people to flip houses in an already negative, dire situation is like a slap in the face,” Katrina Holland with the Community Alliance of Tenants told Fox 12 earlier in the week.

People looking to flip houses in Portland are competing in and already crowded market, as home prices and rental rates continue to climb.

Event organizers have not said why the seminars were canceled or if they will be rescheduled.
