CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Deputies are participating in No Shave November to raise money to fight cancer.

November is Men's Health Awareness Month and people across the country are recognizing it by growing out their facial hair.

CCSO grooming standards don't allow deputies to wear beards, but that all changed for a good cause.

Sheriff Craig Roberts decided to relax the CCSO's grooming standards to help raise awareness about men's health issues, including the kinds of cancer that only affect men.

"Of course, the public still expects us to maintain our professional appearance," said Sheriff Roberts in an Oct. 29 email to all Sheriff's Office personnel, "so if you choose to participate, make sure to keep your beard trimmed and neat."

CCSO said teams have raised thousand of dollars. The Sheriff's Office is in the 6th place overall on the No-Shave website company leaderboard.
