Santa display used on Christmas ship stolen

A Vancouver family says this year they could be without a Santa for their Christmas ship display.

Betty Aberg told Fox 12 they were unloading all the lights, decorations and gear from storage so they could get ready to decorate for the holidays. But after a long day, they left some of the lights, including Santa, covered with a tarp in the back of their pickup truck at the Oxford Suites hotel in Jantzen Beach.

When they came back Thanksgiving morning, the Santa and the sleigh display they made from scratch was gone.

"It still weighs 150 pounds on each side, so whoever took it, it wasn’t one person," said Aberg. "They had to have two people, a truck or a van to lift it out. It wasn’t of value to anyone else. It was part of our decoration."

The Abergs decorate their ship every year to be a part of the Christmas lights display on the Columbia River. They say they will still decorate, but they will not replace Santa.
