Judge orders Oregon man to 'cool his jets' after outburst

KLAMATH FALLS, OR (AP) -

A Chiloquin man accused of firing an AK-47 in his house has been ordered to spend 30 days in jail for contempt of court.

The Herald and News reports that Stephen Ray Sorensen had a profane outburst when making his initial court appearance through a video feed from the Klamath County Jail.

Judge Dan Bunch asked for Sorensen's microphone to be muted, then said the defendant could "cool his jets" in jail before appearing again next month.

Sorensen was arrested Tuesday on accusations he fired an AK-47, took someone's phone to prevent them from calling police and then eluded state troopers before crashing his pickup into a ditch.

He's charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and other crimes.
