GRESHAM, OR (KPTV) -

A gold 2000 Chevy Blazer crashed into the ‘Welcome to Downtown Gresham’ sign around 8:45 p.m. Friday evening, according to Gresham Police.

Officials said the crash totaled the car and sign.

Police said the driver, Vanessa Chetney, 32, was uninjured in the crash.

Chetney was later arrested on multiple charges including DUII and reckless driving.

"This crash is a good reminder to not drive after drinking or using any intoxicant," said Sergeant Jeff Cordes, supervisor of Gresham Police's traffic unit. "Plan ahead to have a designated driver, call a cab, or have a friend come get you. Just don't get behind the wheel."

Preparing for an increase in holiday parties, police plan to enhance DUII patrols for the next several weeks according to the release.

"We want everyone to have a safe, happy and DUII-free holiday season," said Cordes.
