LONGVIEW, WA (KPTV) -

Longview firefighters helped to rescue a dog after it became stuck in cold water and thick mud.

According to Longview Police & Fire, a black lab was playing near the Gearhart Gardens Boat Launch Saturday when it got stuck.

The dog’s owner, Greg Packwell tried to free the dog, but was afraid he would get stuck as well.

Crews say they found the dog shivering in the chest deep water.

Two firefighters wearing life jackets dredged out and pulled the dog to safety.

Officials say after warming up, the dog is doing just fine.
