PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland Public Schools have started a new tradition.

Students this year will be performing their holiday concert at The Old Church Concert Hall in Portland.

In the past, PPS schools have held their concerts at the Grotto during the Festival of Lights.

But this year the school board put an end to that tradition after The Freedom of Religion Foundation filed a complaint.

Melinda Murdock, leader of the Jackson Middle School choir, said it’s great to have something new.

“The Old Church said we would love to have you, host you and it’s a great idea,” she said.

Schools that will be performing at the concert will include Jackson Middle School, Wilson High School, Lincoln High School, and Lane Middle School.

The concert will be Monday, December 7 at 7 p.m.
