Portland business gets in on Cyber Monday rush

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

When shoppers think of Cyber Monday, many might think of online sellers like Amazon and eBay or big box stores like Target and Best Buy running sales on their web sites.

The folks at Moonstruck Chocolates said in recent years, though, this day has been paying off for them big time.

At the company headquarters in north Portland Monday, workers were hand dipping and decorating thousands of truffles and holiday chocolates that will be shipped across the country this season.

On Cyber Monday alone, master chocolatier Julian Rose said they'll get a few thousand orders.

They started selling online about 10 years ago, and Rose said it's done wonders for business.

"The whole economy is changing and a lot of people now do their shopping from work, on their phone or so on,” he explained. “And what's great is local people can actually go online and send a gift somewhere, and still encourage local business, still encourage local jobs - and then send a little bit of Oregon outside of our borders."
