Icy weather conditions cause school closures and delays

Posted: Updated:

Icy weather conditions this Tuesday morning are causing some problems throughout western Oregon including slick roads and school closures and delays.

Yesterday’s rain and colder temperatures caused freezing rain in some areas and left some higher spots on the roads slick with ice this morning.

The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning for the areas east of Troutdale through to Hood River.

They said it will go into effect at 4 p.m. today and will last until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Several schools have issued closures and delays. Corbett School District and Mt. Pleasant School District are both closed this morning and Washougal School District along with Jewell School District are running 3 hours late.

Districts including Skamania and Stevenson-Carson school districts are all running 2 hours late.
