PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

On Sunday afternoon, the Portland Timbers will take on the Columbus Crew is their first ever showing at the MLS Cup, and with some help from a local trucking company, their victory log will be there too.

The Timbers famous game log has only left Portland a couple times. On Thursday, it will start the trip out east to be in Columbus for Sunday's big game.

The victory log has become a fixture at Providence Park and every time the Timbers score, Timber Joey cuts off a slab in celebration.

Since the Timbers secured their spot in the MLS Cup, fans and supporters wondered if there was a way to transport the nearly six foot long, 1,500 pound chunk of tree to Mapfre Stadium in Ohio.

Daimler Trucks in Portland stepped up and offered to transport the log.

The victory log will leave Portland on Thursday and Timber Joey is thrilled it's going to be there. Not for luck he said, but mostly for tradition.

"You know, I wouldn't say superstition so much. I just think the log's kind of family. It's part of the fans and the fan culture, so it will be neat to have it in Columbus," said Timber Joey.

Timber Joey said it should take 32-36 hours to drive the log to Columbus, depending on the weather.

The MLS Cup Final starts at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
