COLUMBUS, OH (KPTV) -

The Portland Timbers are in Ohio preparing for their MLS Cup match Sunday against the Columbus Crew SC.

Timbers players said Thursday the team is genuinely thankful for the incredible support Portland has shown them and said they're genuinely determined to bring home the championship.

The team boarded a jet bearing the team logo for their trip Thursday, and while the players are enjoying the excitement, head coach Caleb Porter noted they are still focused.

"We're on a high, and we're going to enjoy this,” he said. “But at the end of the week we're going to get the job done, as well. We're going to bring home the MLS Trophy to Portland.”

Earlier Thursday morning, Timber Joey was also preparing for the trip, overseeing the Timber's Victory Log as it departed by truck, for a 2,500 mile journey to Columbus.

"I was excited before, I'm way more excited now seeing the truck,” he said. “It looks beautiful, I love the decals that they've done and the log is in the perfect spot."

While the log won't be allowed into the stadium, there will be no keeping the Timbers, their winning streak or the Timbers Army out.

"We have the best fans in Major League Soccer, maybe in North America. And they've been with us through thick and thin,” Porter said. “And one of my goals when I came here was to bring them joy, bring this whole community joy."
