A young cancer survivor will be joining the Portland Timbers in Columbus Ohio for the team’s first ever MLS cup game.

Timbers owner Merritt Paulson announced on Twitter Wednesday that Atticus Lane-Dupre and his family were invited to attend the big game.

Atticus was originally introduced to the team through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The two organizations made his dream of playing against the Timbers come true, inviting Atticus’ youth soccer team to come play the pros at Providence Park.

“They’ve just been amazing to us,” said Bert Dupre, Atticus’ dad. “They’ve really treated Atticus like part of the family.”

Atticus had his suitcase packed Thursday evening, half-full of Timbers gear, in preparation for his Friday morning flight.
