Two men arrested after fatal car crash in SE Portland

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Portland police and firefighters responded to a fatal car crash in southeast Portland early Friday morning.

Officials said the collision occurred at southeast 160th Avenue and Stark Street around 6:40 a.m.

Police said two cars were involved.  One driver, Linda Johnston, 65, was pinned in and unable to get out. 

Officers stated later that Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene.

Portland Fire and Rescue tweeted out the incident, saying that had closed down Stark Street from 157th to 162nd Avenue.  

An investigation into the crash led to the arrest of two men, Jose Lara, 18, and Oswald Reyes, 27.

Police said that Lara and Reyes were speeding eastbound on SE Stark Street, when the victim was turning westbound from 160th Avenue when both vehicles collided with her.

Both suspects were arrested and charged with manslaughter II and reckless driving.
