BATTLE GROUND, WA (KPTV) -

Battle Ground police want to warn the public of reports of package thefts and attempted package thefts from front porches.

According to police, in two cases that had been reported within a week, witnesses saw a female suspect pull up to a home in a red Mini Cooper.

Witnesses added that the suspect approached the house, knocked on the door, and then took packages that had been delivered to the home, according to the report.

A third report of packages stolen was received, but without suspect or vehicle description.

Battle Ground police said while all three of the reported thefts occurred in the northwestern part of the city, residents throughout the city are encouraged to be watchful and report any suspicious activity.

Police encourage people to use alternate package delivery methods to avoid being a victim of theft during the holiday season.

Customers can prevent package theft by:

  • If you are not home during the day, send the package to a neighbor or relative that is home.
  • Request a signature confirmation on each delivery so a package will not be left at its destination unless someone is present to sign for it.
  • Send packages to your work address instead of home.
