CANBY, OR (KPTV) -

Deteriorating asphalt has caused an indefinite lane closure on 99E in Canby, according to ODOT.

ODOT bridge crews closed the right lane of 99E at the Molalla River Bridge just south of Berg Parkway after spotting asphalt breaking away from the bridge deck.

There is not an expected date for the lane to re-open, according to ODOT.

Crews are trying to determine the appropriate repairs, which will take place when the weather becomes drier.

Officials said northbound travelers should expect delays, especially during the weekday morning commute.

The overall structure of the Molalla River Bridge is safe. However, it is unsafe to drive on the deteriorating asphalt.

According to ODOT, an average of 19,3000 cars travel over the Molalla River Bridge each day.
