Seattle driver tries to snort cocaine during traffic stop

Here is a tip. If a police officer has you pulled over for a traffic stop, don’t choose that time to do drugs.

One driver in Seattle decided against this plan, and now faces narcotics possession charges.

According the SPD Blotter blog on the City of Seattle’s website, Officer Nic Abts-Olsen had pulled over a 73-year-old driver around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after seeing the vehicle go past without its headlights on.

The officer noted the driver had a “spotless driving record” and was going back to the car after running the license and registration when he said he saw the driver portioning cocaine out of a small vial.

The entire encounter was captured on dashcam video.

During the exchange, the driver initially denied having drugs, saying instead it was “vitamins’ before finally admitting to Abts-Olsen that he had cocaine.

The driver did admit that snorting cocaine during a traffic stop was probably a bad idea, and complimented the officer on his “keen detection skills.”

Officer Abts-Olsen told the blog that he originally planned on only issuing a warning to the driver due to his clean driving history before seeing the drugs.
