PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A bold thief was caught on camera stealing a bike in Northeast Portland from outside a local store after spending time talking with workers inside.

This happened at Bricks and Minifigs on Northeast Sandy. It's a buy, sell and trade store for Legos.

The owner told FOX 12 he can't believe the man stole the bike, especially after they had taken the time to show him around the store and help answer his questions.

Surveillance video shows the man outside the store with the bike on Thursday night.

Spencer Crandall, the owner of the store, said workers saw the suspect leave a liquor store next door then enter their shop. They said the suspect then spent about 10 minutes inside the store, looking around and they offered him help.

Crandall said the man then left and went around their building and used box cutters to steal one of the worker's bikes that was locked up.

"It's his main form of transportation, including TriMet, getting from Hillsboro to the store. He's very passionate about Lego. Working at Bricks and Minifigs, he's always wanted to work here so it's just a really sad thing that this happened," said Crandall. "I try to be really welcoming to people so it just kind of feels like a violation. We're a big family store, selling all these Legos to families, and it's just unfortunate it happened."

Crandall said they tried chasing the man down after they saw him with the bike but couldn't get to him.

If you recognize the man in the surveillance video, please call Portland Police.
