Police investigate two similar armed robberies near UO Campus

EUGENE, OR (KPTV) -

Two armed street robberies occurred near the University of Oregon Campus early Saturday morning, according to the University.

The University said in separate, but similar cases, a suspect approached the victims and demanded their cell phones and other items in their pockets while armed with a handgun.

During the first incident, a man reported to Eugene Police at around 4:45 a.m. that he was robbed at gunpoint near 20th Avenue and Patterson Street, according to police.

Police said in the second incident, a female University of Oregon student reported to campus police at around 5:05 a.m. she was robbed at gunpoint near the Delta Delta Delta sorority on 15th Avenue.

The Eugene Police Department, including a K-9, and University of Oregon Police have investigated the crimes, but were unable to locate or identify the suspect.

Officials said in both cases, the suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, approximately 5’ 10” tall with a medium build, clean shaven, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a black, puffy vest.
