Several homes in Seaside destroyed in massive fire

SEASIDE, OR (KPTV) -

Four homes were heavily damaged after an early morning fire in Seaside.

Fire crews were called to the fire on 11th Avenue in Seaside just after 2:30 Sunday morning according to officials.

The fire quickly grew to 3-alarms and crews from around the area responded to help.

Firefighters said that fire was contained by 7:30 Sunday morning.

Four homes were severely damaged with three of the homes expected to be a total loss.

Fire crews from Seaside, Cannon Beach, Gearhart, Astoria, and Hamlet Fire Districts all responded to the fire. Agencies in Clatsop, Columbia, and Tillamook Counties all assisted with mutual aid.

Crews said they evacuated other homes in the immediate area.

Workers from Pacific Power and Northwest Natural were called in to help with overhead lines, and a potential gas leak.

A volunteer firefighter had minor injuries but is expected to recover.

No one else was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
