Portland Timbers homecoming delayed

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

The MLS Cup-winning Portland Timbers will be returning to Portland a little later than planned Monday.

The team invited fans to greet them as they returned to Portland International Airport. The team's flight was originally scheduled to arrive around 2:25 p.m.

Monday morning, the team posted on Twitter that the Alaska Airlines flight would be delayed by about an hour and a half. A reason for the delay wasn't immediately clear.

The team said the flight's new scheduled arrival time at PDX was 3:45 p.m.

The Timbers ask that any fans who want to greet the team when they return should assemble curbside at Portland International Airport at the south end of the upper roadway by Alaska Airlines.

The roadway will be closed to traffic start at 2:45 p.m. and Alaska airlines will be closing their curb side check-in.
