Public health advisory issued after sewage enters Clackamas River

Posted: Updated:
GLADSTONE, OR (KPTV) -

A public health advisory in Gladstone has been issued Tuesday after raw sewage entered the Clackamas River, according to police.

Gladstone Police said the recent heavy rains overtaxed the system at the intersection of the city’s waste water and storm water sewers.

The sewage leak occurred at the storm water outfall at the south end of Portland Avenue at West Clackamas, according to officials.

Caution signs have been posted and residents are asked to avoid contact with the river due to bacterial contamination for at least 48 hours after the current storm systems end.
