Increased rain and flooding damages vehicles

Posted: Updated:

The rain and flooding has caused some big problems for drivers.

Jake Hammer, the owner of Everett Street Autoworks in northeast Portland said he has seen seven cars come in because of the wet weather.

Hammer said people are driving through standing water which is causing big problems for their cars.

When driving through water, Hammer says it can get sucked into their car and can damage anything electronic inside, and it is better for drivers to be safe than sorry.

“You never know how deep that puddle actually is, so sometimes it can look like its only 4-6 inches deep, when in reality it's 12-18 inches deep," said Hammer.

Some cars with water damage can be repaired in the same day it is brought in.

However, those with engine damage can take more than a week to fix.
