WILSONVILLE, OR (KPTV) -

The Wilsonville City Council held a hearing Monday and adopted an ordinance which bans medical marijuana related businesses.

The ban includes medical marijuana-processing sites, medical marijuana dispensaries, recreational marijuana producers, recreational marijuana processors, recreational marijuana wholesalers, and recreational marijuana retailers.

The ban is permitted under state law by House Bill 3400, according to the city.

However, the ban has to be referred to the voters during the next statewide general election in November 2016.

A second reading of the ordinance is planned for the next City Council meeting on January 4, 2016 according to the release.
