One person is in the hospital after a Metro West ambulance collided with another car in Aurora Thursday morning.

Witnesses said the crash occurred around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of NE Hubbard Cutoff Rd. and Arndt Rd near the Aurora Airport.

A spokesperson for Metro West said the ambulance was responding to a call and had its lights and siren on when a car in the intersection failed to yield, and the ambulance collided with the car.

Aurora fire officials said the ambulance was not carrying patients but one person from the passenger car was transported to the hospital. An update on that person's condition wasn't immediately available.

Officials added that one of the vehicles hit an electrical box, knocking out traffic lights in the area.

Metro West wished to remind the public to pull over and yield to emergency vehicles when they activate their lights and sirens.
