MOUNT HOOD, OR (KPTV) -

Snow is once again coming down in the Oregon Cascades, and that's great news for the region's ski resorts.

With more than a foot of snow expected by the end of the weekend, Mount Hood Meadows announced Wednesday that it would be opening for the season on Friday.

The resort posted on its website that it had received about a foot of new snow in the past 48 hours, thanks to rain storms that moved through the area.

Meadows plans to be open for skiing and snowboarding at 9 a.m. Friday.

Other area resorts are also open for the season.

Timberline Lodge had two ski lifts in operation Thursday and Mount Bachelor near Bend had three lifts open.

Mount Hood Skibowl in Government Camp planned to be open for tubing this weekend, but was waiting for more snow before opening the ski slopes.
