PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A man who stopped a bank robbery in 2010 is now going to prison for robbing a bank five years later.

Mark Rothwell, 50, pleaded guilty in September to charges of armed bank robbery and use of a firearm while committing a violent crime.

Rothwell was sentenced Wednesday to five years in federal prison.

Police said he robbed the Albina Community Bank in northeast Portland at gunpoint in February.

A K-9 tracked him down and officers arrested him.

Back in 2010, the Portland Police Bureau awarded Rothwell a medal for stopping a bank robbery in progress and holding down the would-be robber inside the Hollywood Fred Meyer store.
