Two lanes of I-5 open to northbound traffic near Woodland

Posted: Updated:

Good news for drivers traveling north. The Washington Department of Transportation opened two out of three lanes of northbound I-5 near Woodland Thursday night.

WDOT had previously closed all northbound lanes of the interstate due to a massive landslide on Wednesday.

Trees, mud and rocks the size of cars fell onto the roadway, and road crews were dispatched to the area to clean up the debris.

Officials including engineers, contractors and even Governor Jay Inslee were at the site Thursday assessing the situation.

Crews said the closure of the third lane is expected to last throughout the weekend.

WDOT still recommends drivers use caution while traveling.
