Police: Man killed in head-on crash on Hwy 97

DESCHUTES COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

Oregon State Police Troopers responded to the report of a head-on collision on Highway 97 at milepost 154 near Sunriver around 8:15 p.m. Friday.

According to police, a 2015 Freightliner was traveling south on Highway 97, when the driver lost control on the icy roadway.

The tuck crossed into the northbound lane, striking a 1993 Ford F-350 head-on.

The driver of the Ford, David Taylor, 30, of LaPine was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials said two other passengers in the Ford, Amanda Porter, 23, and a 7-year-old boy were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the driver of the Freightliner, Dennis Woods, 30, of Sacramento was also taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Woods was cited for failure to drive within lane, according to police.
