Oregon’s oldest death row inmate dies in prison

Posted: Updated:

Mark Allen Pinnell, the oldest man on death row in Oregon, has died in prison at the age of 67.

Pinnell was first placed into state custody on robbery charges out of Clackamas County in 1986, and was later charged with two counts of murder and six counts of aggravated assault in Washington County, being placed on death row in 1992.

Pinnell had been housed in the Two Rivers Correctional Institution infirmary for medical reasons.

In October, his lawyers had petitioned the court to allow Pinnell to serve his final days in a hospice facility.

They asked for an urgent review since Pinnell has severe chronic pulmonary disease.
