The holidays are upon us, and while it's good to be joyful, it's also very important to play it safe while driving.

The Centers for Disease Control found that more than 1,200 people have died from impaired driving in Oregon in just the past 10 years. That is why Mothers Against Drunk Driving, TriMet and Uber are all working together to keep people around Portland safe, especially on New Year’s Eve.

"New Year's Eve is traditionally one of our biggest evenings of the year," said Bryce Bennett, general manager for Oregon Uber. "TriMet I know feels the same way, so we want to make sure there are options out there to get drunk drivers off the road."

On New Year's Eve, TriMet will be offering free rides from 8 p.m. on, and Uber will donate $1 from every ride to Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
