Two new K9 Officers join Beaverton Police Dept.

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

Two new K9 Officers and their canine partners have joined the Beaverton Police Department.

Officer Jared Lutu, a 9 year officer, will handle K9 Officer Toa and Officer Matt Barrington, a 7 year officer, will handle K9 Officer Atlas.

Both K9 Officers Toa and Atlas are German Shepards and are almost 2-years-old.

Beaverton Police Department said K9 Officers Toa and Atlas were purchased from a breeder in Indiana.

Formal K9 training will start in January 2016.
