Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) will sponsor First Day Hikes in 28 Oregon State Parks on New Year's Day.
On Jan. 1 only, day-use parking fees are waived for all visitors at the participating parks.
The hikes will be led by park rangers or volunteers.
First Day Hikes let families enjoy state parks close to their homes and also encourage a healthy lifestyle.
