BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

A local high school is honoring some distinguished alumni by inducting them into a new Hall of Achievement.

Beaverton High School held an assembly on Thursday to recognize six nominees. All of the nominees graduated from, taught, or coached at the school prior to 1965.

The six alumni being inducted are Steve Biles ('60), Rod Harman (coach/teacher), Col. Charles Meadows ('57), Ruth Lundgren Pasley ('30), John Polos ('60), and Mike Smith ('60).

Three of the nominees attended the assembly.

FOX 12 spoke with one, who hopes this Hall of Achievement will inspire students today.

"Well, I can't help but think the young kids in high school now when they see someone who has been to your school, we sat in the same gym, did the same thing, that there's always a little tinge of optimism that they'll say gee that's really neat. They'll say if those old guys done some of that stuff, then we can too," said Col. Charles Meadows.

Beaverton High School is celebrating its centennial in 2016.
