Deputies: Increase in phone scams reported in Hood River County

HOOD RIVER COUNTY, OR (KPTV) -

There has been an increase in phone scams in Hood River, according to the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office.

Some common scams reported include:

  • Suspects claiming to be law enforcement demanding payments to prevent an arrest warrant being issued for the person being called.
  • Suspects claiming to be a relative asking for bail money.
  • Suspects requesting cash to lower interest payments on credit cards or loans.
  • Suspects requesting cash or access to bank records.

Officials are asking people not to give out money, send money transfers, or provide personal information when requested via phone or email.
