SALEM, OR (KPTV) -

Due to police activity in the area, students at three Salem schools had to be picked up by parents/guardians Friday, according to Salem-Keizer Public Schools.

The district did not run buses or allow students to walk home at Washington Elementary, Hallman Elementary and Waldo Middle Schools.

Parents and guardians were notified by phone to pick up their student, and were asked to bring an ID with them.

Supervision and snacks were provided for any students whose parents were late picking them up.

According to Salem police, northeast Hawthorne Avenue was closed between Silverton Road and Felina Street while police served a search warrant in the area. The road has since reopened.
