For four years, Blanca Gonzalez Castellanos has been on the transplant list, waiting for a new kidney. She turned to close friends and family members and they got tested, but no one was a match.

Then last month, a woman who plays soccer with Blanca’s partner Angie gave her some unbelievable news. Aimee Chase got tested, she’s a perfect match and she wants to give Blanca one of her kidneys. Aimee says her husband had some concerns, but now her whole family is on board.
"My husband and my kids … My kids are all for it," she said. "They're not surprised. When I asked them about it, they’re like, 'Of course!'"
Blanca suffers from a metabolic disease that attacks her kidneys. The illness runs in her family.
While on a fundraising walk with Blanca’s partner earlier this year, Aimee asked about Blanca’s blood type. It was the same as hers, so she decided to go through the full testing process. After being sick and doing dialysis four times a day for years, Blanca says there’s no way to adequately say "thank you."
"I can't say it enough," said Blanca. "I mean, there are not enough words."
Aimee interrupts, "She doesn't have to."
"Oh, I do have to. It's a present of life and it means a lot to me," said Blanca.
The two women will undergo the transplant surgery on Jan. 11.
Friends have set up a GoFundMe page for the procedure that will cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, along with medication Blanca will need for the rest of her life. Click here to donate.
